Managing Director – Head of Execution, North America

Mr. Mukhtar is a member of CGM’s North America Investment Committee. Mr. Mukhtar has been a principal investor supporting middle-market businesses for 20+ years. He has extensive experience in building and managing diverse portfolios of middle-market companies across multiple cycles. Prior to joining CMG in 2024, Mr. Mukhtar served as the Execution Head and Chair of the North America Investment Committee at Barings Global Private Finance. Mr. Mukhtar oversaw an investment team that originated, managed and monitored a diverse portfolio of middle-market leveraged loans, subordinated and Holdco debt, preferred equity and common stock on behalf of Barings Global Private Finance and other third-party institutional investors.

Mr. Mukhtar Joined Barings from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in 2019, where he was Head of Underwriting and Portfolio Management in the Credit Asset Financing Group. Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Mukhtar worked at Antares Capital (fka GE Capital Sponsor Finance) as Managing Director, where he was responsible for structuring and executing syndicated and club leveraged transaction with a focus on the middle-market companies. Mr. Mukhtar holds a B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Finance from Purdue University.
